West Brom are waiting on appointing a new manager with caretaker Frank Burrows poised to take charge at Southampton on Saturday.
Burrows will take charge against Southampton
Glenn Hoddle is favourite to take over, but Bryan Robson, Gordon Strachan and Gerard Houllier are all in the frame.
But the club have revealed Burrows will hold media conferences before the game.
And this will give chairman Jeremy Peace further time to assess all contenders before naming the successor to Gary Megson.
Reports claimed that Hoddle had been offered the role but a club statement said they are considering all options.
"The board are in the process of forming a shortlist of candidates and this will be finalised shortly," the statement said.
"An appointment will be made following interviews with these candidates."
And the statement went on: "There will be no further comment from the club until that time.
"It is important that the right individual, with the right desire and motivation is appointed to continue the long-term building process at the football club."
Megson was relieved of his position and placed on 'gardening leave' on October 26 only hours after announcing that he planned to leave West Brom when his contract expired next summer.
