Former Watford vice-chairman Jimmy Russo has confirmed his interest in buying the Championship club.
Russo and his brother Vince were removed from the Vicarage Road board in April 2007 but still own a 29.1% stake and could now launch a takeover bid.
Watford are reported to be worth around £20m and Russo confirmed to BBC London 94.9 that he would be interested: "If the price is right.
"I will have to check the infrastructure and things first."
Hornets chairman Graham Simpson and major shareholder Lord Michael Ashcroft recently announced that they would be willing to stand aside if the right buyer came forward.
