Watford release Vega
Ramon Vega in action for Watford against Arsenal
Vega has been transfer-listed since February
Watford have agreed terms with defender Ramon Vega to release him from his three-year contract.

The 31-year-old Swiss international joined from Celtic last summer on a free transfer.

But Vega, one of the highest earners at the club, was transfer-listed in February by manager Gianluca Vialli, who was sacked on Friday.

Chief executive Tim Shaw said of Vega's release: "The club has to reduce its costs in order to ensure future financial stability."

Watford's belt-tightening has already led to a cull of the backroom staff.

As well as the sacking of Vialli and his assistant Ray Wilkins, the Vicarage Road club have made redundant fitness coach Giovanni Vaglini, club doctor Ian Beasley and masseur John Kelly.
