Walsall sign Argentine midfielder Emmanuel Ledesma

Walsall have signed Argentine midfielder Emmanuel Ledesma until the end of the season.

The 22-year-old, who left Genoa last month after six years at the club, had a loan spell at QPR in 2008 where he made 23 appearances.

Saddlers boss Dean Smith told the club website: "The lad can certainly do a job for us and is an exciting signing."

Ledesma is set to make his Walsall debut against Rochdale on Saturday, subject to international clearance.

The attacking midfielder has spent time at Italian sides Salernitana, Novaro and Crotone since his spell in England, and had returned to QPR in January this year for a trial, but did not secure a move.

Smith added: "Emmanuel has great technical ability, is good with both feet, can score goals and gives us something different.

"We spotted him playing for Brighton reserves and nipped in to bring him here. He has fitted in extremely well and things have developed from there."
