Free-agent goalkeeper Andy Petterson is expected to open contract negotiations
with Walsall with a view to making his debut against Coventry at the weekend.
Petterson and Trinidadian keeper Kelvin Jack have been on trial this week.
Walsall's first-choice Jimmy Walker begins a three-game suspension and
deputy Aaron Kerr continues to recover from a broken wrist.
On-loan Shaun Allaway provides the only cover, although the 20-year-old is due back at Leeds on Monday.
But Petterson's agent, Daniel Fletcher, revealed his 34-year-old client is
poised to sign for the Saddlers.
Fletcher said: "Andy's international clearance came through at about 1700 GMT on
Wednesday so all we've got to do now is agree the contract.
"The idea is Andy will sign until the end of the season and hopefully be
available for selection in time for Saturday's game."
