Tranmere not thinking about relegation - Enoch Showunmi
Showunmi moved to Prenton Park on a free transfer from Leeds
Tranmere striker Enoch Showunmi says they need to climb the League One table rather than worry about relegation.
Rovers are 18th, six points above the drop zone, with four games left after Tuesday's 1-0 defeat to Notts County.
"We've got four more games and only a few more points to be mathematically safe so I think it's in our hands," Showunmi told BBC Radio Merseyside.
"We're trying not to look behind us. We're confident in our ability to win games and to pick up points."
Tranmere travel to Hartlepool on Good Friday, and have not won at Victoria Park since a 2-1 victory in the League Cup back in September 2002, a record which does not deter Showunmi.
"We're going to pick up as many points as we can in the next four games and see where we end up," he added.
"Hartlepool is another winnable game. We must go out and play to our strengths and go out there believing again."
The former Leeds striker is Rovers' leading goalscorer this season having found the net 12 times but he still wants to get close to his own ambition for the term.
"I set a target of 20 goals at the beginning of the season, so I've got a bit of a way to go in the next four games," said Showunmi.
"But you never know, I still believe in my ability to score goals and we'll see what happens from here."
