Tranmere goalkeeper Gunnar Nielsen glad to be back

Tranmere goalkeeper Gunnar Nielsen says he is relieved to be back playing after a shoulder injury, which has kept him out of action since August.

Nielsen will make his second Rovers start in Saturday's game at Exeter.

"I was looking forward to getting some first team games and being a part of that every weekend," Nielsen told BBC Radio Merseyside.

"It's been tough and I have been back at Manchester City, but now hopefully I'll be good to go."

Tranmere have managed to improve their league record recently, with four wins from their last six league matches.

The 24-year-old, who is on a six-month loan deal from Manchester City, says he is cautiously optimistic about Rovers' fortunes this season.

"I don't think we should get too ahead of ourselves, we must take it one game at a time," the Faroe Islands international continued.

"It's a very even division and if you get a good run - suddenly you're up there. At the moment we just need to get a string of good results together and maybe we'll be up there.

"We've had some rough patches, but lately we've had a few good results and some good clean sheets. Hopefully it will just be onwards and upwards from now on."
