Teenage keeper pens Tranmere deal

Tranmere Rovers

Tranmere Rovers youth team goalkeeper Joe Collister has signed a two-year professional contract with the club.

The 17-year-old is a graduate of Rovers' Centre of Excellence and will act as understudy to on-loan goalkeeper Luke Daniels.

"If Collister works hard and has the right attitude he could have a bright future in the game," said youth coach Shaun Garnett.

"It is fantastic to see another player come through the Centre of Excellence."

Daniels arrived at Prenton Park from West Bromwich Albion on a season-long loan on Tuesday to replace former Rovers number one Danny Coyne.

Coyne signed a two-year deal with Middlesbrough earlier this month.

The Rovers hierarchy are pleased to have added some youth in the form of Collister to back-up the more experienced Daniels in goal.

Chief Executive Mick Horton said: "Joe is the latest in a long list of players to sign a professional contract from our very successful youth development programme.

"This shows the ongoing commitment that the Club has towards young players."
