Four players released by Tranmere

Tranmere Rovers

League One side Tranmere have released Edrissa Sonko, Adnan Ahmed, Luke Waterfall and Danny Holmes.

"I'd like to thank the four players for their time at Prenton Park and wish them all the best for the future," boss Ronnie Moore told the club website.

"We'll be working hard in the summer to bring the right players to the club."

Meanwhile new contracts have been offered to Antony Kay, Steve Jennings, Ben Chorley, Danny Coyne, Charlie Barnett and Ian Moore.

Goalkeeper John Achterberg has also been offered a contract as a coach.

Midfielder Sonko, 29, joined Tranmere from Walsall at the beginning of the season.

Former Manchester United trainee Ahmed joined Rovers from Huddersfield in May 2007.

The 24-year-old midfielder spent much of this season on loan Mansfield and Port Vale.

Defender Waterfall, 18, joined Rovers from Barnsley in July 2008 while 20-year-old Holmes is a product of the Tranmere youth system.
