Tranmere release quintet
Tranmere manager Brian Little has released five players as he begins planning for next season.

Micky Mellon, Graham Allen, Shane Nicholson, Sean Connelly and Alex Hay have not been offered new contracts.

Mellon, however, has the option of discussing a fresh deal if he does not find a new club in the summer.

"I have to try and improve the team for next season and ultimately I'll be judged myself," Little told the club's website.

He added: "It's been a very difficult decision to make and I've had to think long and hard about things

"I've already made enquiries about who I'd like to bring in."

None of the five will be included in the final match of the season against Grimsby on Saturday.

Seven other players who are out of contract have been offered new terms, including leading scorer Eugene Dadi and recent short-term signings Ian Goodison and Paul Hall.
