Tranmere have appointed Brian Little as their new manager.
Little, whose appointment will be formally announced on Monday, takes over from Ray Mathias who was sacked two weeks ago.
His first game in charge will be the LDV Vans Trophy first-round match at Blackpool on Tuesday.
Tranmere, trounced 6-0 by Plymouth at Home Park on Saturday, will parade Little at a 1400 BST news conference.
Mathias, who took the club to the brink of the play-offs last season, was sacked following a poor start to the campaign, with John McMahon taking
over on a temporary basis.
Little, a former manager at Aston Villa in the mid 1990s, was latterly in charge at Hull City until February 2002.
He has since been working as a television football pundit.
