Tranmere to honour King
Tranmere Rovers are to honour former player and manager John King by naming a
stand after him at Prenton Park.
The Borough Road stand will become the John King Stand from next season in recognition of King's years of service to the club. King joined Rovers in 1960 as a player and went on to become trainer-coach in 1972 and manager in 1975. He was sacked in 1980 but returned for a second spell from 1987 to 1996. Chairman Lorraine Rogers told the club's official website; "As the years have elapsed since John's last spell as manager, we can now put in context his outstanding contribution to the club over the past 42 years. King said: "I love Tranmere Rovers and have given a great deal of my life to the club. "I am extremely honoured and will be proud to look across from the Main Stand to the new John King Stand next season." |
