Koumas set to opt for Wales
Jason Koumas evades the challenge of Everton's Scot Gemmill
Koumas has been in outstanding form for his club
Tranmere midfielder Jason Koumas looks set to commit his international future to Wales.

Wrexham-born Koumas is also eligible to play for England and Cyprus but has been courted by Welsh boss Mark Hughes for several months.

It now seems that he is close to making a decision.

He told Tranmere's official website: "I'm starting to get a real feel for Wales.

Committed to club

"I still haven't given Mark (Hughes) my final decision but I've spoken to Cyprus and they are not in my thoughts.

"I also know that making the grade with England would be an awful long way off," he added.

But the 21-year-old did not link up for a training session with the Welsh squad on their return from Armenia as expected.

He felt he should stay on Merseyside to concentrate on Tranmere's clash with Fulham on Friday instead of accepting Hughes' offer to see the workings of the international team.
