Tottenham defender William Gallas has signed a contract extension that will keep him at White Hart Lane until 2013.

Gallas, 33, has been a key figure at Spurs since joining from Arsenal and has been rewarded with a two-year deal.

Spurs have enjoyed an impressive run in this season's Champions League, beating both Inter Milan and AC Milan en-route to a quarter-final with Real Madrid.

"Gallas has impressed at the heart of our defence since joining the club last summer," read a Spurs statement.

Gallas, who won two Premier League titles with Chelsea before joining Arsenal in 2006, made the controversial move to north London rivals Spurs last summer.

The Frenchman has since made 28 appearance for Spurs in all competitions this season, forging an impressive defensive partnership with England's Michael Dawson.

Gallas is currently out with a hamstring injury and is a doubt for the first-leg tie with Real on 5 April.
