Sanchez leaves Spurs for Valencia

Tottenham reserve goalkeeper Cesar Sanchez has joined Spanish club Valencia after his Spurs contract was cancelled by mutual consent.

Cesar, 37, arrived at White Hart Lane in August from Real Zaragoza as back-up to first-choice keeper Heurelho Gomes, who joined from PSV Eindhoven.

Before joining Spurs, Cesar spent five years at Real Madrid, where he picked up a Champions League winners' medal.

He played one game for Spurs, coming on as substitute in the Carling Cup.

The goalkeeping position has been problematic for Spurs, with Gomes taking time to adjust to the Premier League.

Spurs manager Harry Redknapp has been linked with a move for Chelsea reserve keeper Carlo Cudicini but on Friday he revealed: "I'm nowhere near signing Cudicini."
