Tottenham will help fans in the credit crunch by freezing White Hart Lane season ticket prices for two years.

Despite spending almost £29m on Jermaine Defoe and Wilson Palacios in the January transfer window, Spurs have promised to help out fans.

"(Wednesday's) price freeze for two years, combined with the current lower VAT rate, has been designed to thank our supporters," said a club statement.

"We want to slightly ease the financial burden that people are experiencing."

Fans who renew tickets will pay the same price as this season, although the cost will be made lower still by the VAT cut which is now down to 15%.

"The club is acutely aware of the current economic climate and the uncertainty and the concern this has created for many of our supporters," the statement went on.

Spurs are currently 16th in the Premier league, level on points with the four teams below them.
