Tottenham face competition to sign £14m-rated Wilson Palacios after Wigan boss Steve Bruce revealed a second club were interested in buying the Honduran.
The 24-year-old has been with Wigan for just over a year after signing from Deportivo Olimpia on a three-and-a-half year deal for £1m in January 2008.
"Another club has joined the chase and we will see what develops," said Bruce.
"I don't know if an offer has gone in officially as I'm not sure where we're up to until I see the powers that be."
During the week Spurs looked to be close to signing Palacios, after the two clubs agreed a fee - thought to be around £14m - though the payment terms are yet to be resolved.
"He has had a fantastic 18 months here and we will fight to keep him but it is difficult," added Bruce, following Wigan's 1-0 defeat at Eastlands, with Palacios playing the full game.
Second club bids for Palacios
While refusing to name the second club, Bruce insisted it was not Manchester United, while Manchester City boss Mark Hughes refused to say whether they might have contacted Wigan.
"We try not to discuss players we have not made bids for," said Hughes. "That is the situation.
"I saw him in midweek against Manchester United and thought he was excellent."
