Gareth Bale has signed a new contract with Tottenham that lasts until 2012.
The Welsh international defender signed from Southampton in May 2007 for an initial fee of around £5m that could rise to £10m.
The 19-year-old scored against Fulham, Arsenal and Middlesbrough in 12 appearances last season before his season was curtailed by a foot injury.
"Gareth Bale has signed a new contract that will see him commit his future to (Tottenham)," a club statement read.
Bale has made a positive start to his White Hart Lane career but was injured in a tackle
with Birmingham's Fabrice Muamba at the start of December and was eventually
ruled out for the rest of the campaign.
He joins Michael Dawson and Jermaine Jenas among the players to agree new deals
this summer.
