New Tottenham signing Steed Malbranque has undergone a hernia operation which will sideline him for two months.
Spurs coach Martin Jol confirmed the 26-year-old midfielder opted to have surgery following his £2m move from Fulham last week.
Jol said: "It was his decision and he will be out for seven or eight weeks."
Meanwhile, striker Dimitar Berbatov will miss Saturday's trip to Manchester United with a groin injury he picked up playing for Bulgaria last week.
