Arnesen tells Keane to curb anger
Tottenham striker Robbie Keane
Tottenham sporting director Frank Arnesen has told Robbie Keane the club will not tolerate bad behaviour.

Keane was fined £10,000 after storming down the tunnel when he was not brought on as a substitute in the match against Birmingham last weekend.

Arnesen said: "It's very important that everybody involved in football sets an example to the watching public. We all have to be disciplined.

"All of us in football have to know that nobody is bigger than the club."

Keane was on the bench again in Spurs' win over Newcastle on Sunday, but he came on for the last 10 minutes.

But Manager Martin Jol has admitted he does not know if the 24-year-old will be at the club next season.

Jol told BBC Radio Five Live's Sportsweek: "I want Robbie to stay but you never know.

Sometimes it is not bad to have a bit of tension

"We will have to wait and see what happens at the end of the season."

Keane has since been linked with a move to Everton - and Jol admitted it is difficult to keep all his players happy.

Tottenham have Keane, Jermain Defoe, Freddie Kanoute and Mido vying for two places up front.

"I do not know if they are all happy," Jol added. "If you have 22 or 23 players in the squad there are players in the stands.

"There are not a lot of gifted players like Robbie but I have to make a choice between him and Jermain Defoe.

"Jermain is scoring a lot of first goals and winning goals.

"Robbie does that occasionally. He was player of the year last season and without him we would have a problem - as well as five or six points less.

"The most important thing is to achieve with Spurs, on an individual level it is not important."

Jol added that Keane had accepted the fine handed out to him.

"He told me 'when I'm not playing I'm going to visit you in your office every day'," said Jol.

"I told him he can say what he likes between us but not in front of a whole stadium.

"Sometimes it is not bad to have a bit of tension. I did what I have to do and Robbie knows that."
