Robbie Keane's future at Tottenham is in doubt after Spurs confirmed he had been hit with a £10,000 club fine and made to train with the reserves.
Keane was carpeted by boss Martin Jol for his reaction at not being brought on as a substitute against Birmingham.
A Spurs' spokesman told BBC Sport: "We can confirm Robbie was fined, but have no further comment to make."
Keane, 24, has struggled to hold a starting place since the arrivals of Jermain Defoe and Egypt's Mido.
The Irish international has been linked with a move to Premiership rivals Everton.
Keane was signed from Leeds for £7m in August 2002 and made a big impact at White Hart Lane.
But he has been forced to play second fiddle to England striker Defoe, while the capture of Mido and the return to full fitness of Frederic Kanoute has stiffened competition for places at White Hart Lane.
Spurs boss Jol took action after Keane showed dissent towards him as he stormed down the tunnel at Birmingham.
