Tottenham and Everton are reportedly among a number of clubs hoping to sign Greece Euro 2004 hero Traianos Dellas.
Dellas excelled in Portugal
The 28-year-old central defender, who played a major role in their stunning triumph in Portugal, is much in demand.
Dellas' agent Stefano Antonelli said: "We have had many offers including Tottenham, Everton and Porto."
Dellas, who had an ill-fated spell with Sheffield United from 1997-1999, played just six games last year for Roma, who have signed Frenchman Philippe Mexes.
New Tottenham coach Jacques Santini saw Dellas blunt the attacking threat of Thierry Henry as his France side fell victims to Greece in the Euro 2004 quarter-finals.
And Spurs coach Martin Jol admitted that technical director Frank Arnesen is still busy trying to secure more recruits before the start of the new season.
"Frank Arnesen is on the phone all day and is always busy talking to agents, so a couple of new players will come into the club," Jol told the Daily Mirror.
"I think there will be a few more signings before the start of the season."
