Tottenham will not offer Japanese midfielder Kazuyuki Toda a new deal at White Hart Lane, says a report.
The 25-year-old joined Spurs in a one-year loan spell from Shimizu S-Pulse last January but caretaker boss David Pleat is unlikely to extend the deal.
"There is increasing competition for
places in midfield so we probably would not sign him now," Pleat was quoted by the Nikkan Sports newspaper as saying.
Toda made just four first-team appearances for Tottenham last season.
The midfielder, who helped Japan reach the second round of last year's World Cup, has been out of action this season with a calf injury.
Former Tottenham boss Glenn Hoddle snapped up Toda after he arrived in England on a two-week trial with Sunderland.
