Sheringham is Spurs' leading goalscorer
Teddy Sheringham could be set for a final fling with Sporting Lisbon, according to reports.
The Portuguese giants have enquired about the 37-year-old Tottenham striker, who becomes a free agent in the summer.
And Sporting Lisbon are said to be ready to break the bank to persuade the former England star to join them.
Spurs manager Glenn Hoddle has so far failed to offer Sheringham a new deal, and he is likely to have to take reduced terms by the club even if they qualify for the Uefa Cup.
Sporting have been in negotiations with Sheringham's agent Barry Neville, who said: "Sporting have made an enquiry and we're now waiting to hear from them again now.
"But we'll wait and see and consider any options. We've not heard anything more from Spurs but we'll probably sit down them and discuss the future."
The Spurs striker confirmed only last week he had received several contract offers from other clubs.
Sheringham is believed to earn in excess of £25,000, but such wages would not prove a stumbling block for Sporting who are desperate to sign a star name.
Sheringham joined Spurs on a free transfer from Manchester United prior to the start of the 2001-02 season.
He is in his second spell at the club and remains a popular figure at White Hart Lane.
