Klinsmann back for Spurs

Jurgen Klinsmann will return to the Tottenham line-up on Thursday.
Klinsmann, 38, became a Spurs hero during his two spells at the club and he will turn out for a Tottenham tribute match against American Major league Soccer side DC United. David Ginola, Paul Gascoigne and Chris Waddle will also be playing in a match aimed at raising funds for Spurs players who have fallen on hard times.
"I'm happy to get the chance to kick a ball around on that special pitch and I will be nostalgic seeing old friends," said the former German World Cup winner.
Former striker Klinsmann helped Spurs avoid relegation before leaving in May 1998 and retiring after the World Cup later that summer. He added: "A lot of people said I should have kept on playing but it was purely a decision for my family. "And it was the right decision because I've had the chance to watch my son Jonathan grow up, and I now have a daughter. "I watch the Premiership and the Italian and German leagues on television and it tickles me sometimes. "But at the moment I can't imagine a return to football. I want to have time for my family. Maybe when they are older, but that is far away." Klinsmann has a lot of affection for the White Hart Lane club. "I am a Tottenham fan and I have been following the results," he said. "My second spell here was difficult but our problems were solved and I had a great finish, scoring in my last match against Southampton. "I've seen the development of the club since then and Glenn Hoddle is a manager with tremendous experience. "He has put together a side which plays good football and that is exciting to see. If they reach the Uefa Cup that would be great."
