Hoddle wins manager award
Glenn Hoddle
Hoddle rewarded for great start
Tottenham boss Glenn Hoddle has been named the Barclaycard Manager of the Month for August.

He has been rewarded for guiding his side to the top of the Premier League after Spurs went undefeated in August for the first time since 1986.

They beat Aston Villa, Charlton and Southampton, and drew with Everton.

"We've had a good start to the season and that is down to the coaching staff and players," said Hoddle.

"The four or five new faces seem to have added something to the side and I'm pleased with the way we seem a lot more resilient than last season, but there is a long way to go yet."

A spokesman for the Barclaycard Awards Panel, which includes representatives from football's governing bodies, the media and fans, said: "It really is happy days for fans at White Hart Lane at present.

"Glenn Hoddle's teams have always been able to play attractive football, but August has shown us that Spurs can also grind out results and make themselves difficult to beat."
