Tamworth have agreed a deal to sign former Aston Villa winger Peter Hynes.

The 20-year-old was released by Villa at the end of last season and has been snapped up by Lambs boss Mark Cooper.

"There are that many players available that you can get a bit for your money, and hopefully we've got that with him," said Cooper.

"I've done a lot of research on him and seen him play a number of times - he can play on the left side or as a striker and it's up to him now.

He added: "We are giving him the shop window."

Hynes was unable to break into the first-team at Villa Park, but got a taste of senior football during loan spells at Doncaster and Cheltenham Town last season.

Cooper is building up his squad ready for his first season as Tamworth boss and has also secured new deals for defenders Lee Colkin and Andy Turner.

Former Chesterfield and Peterborough midfielder Marcus Ebdon also remains at the Lamb after a possible move to Conference rivals Dagenham fell through.
