Swindon Town look to extend Charlie Austin deal

Swindon Town have confirmed they are already trying to keep striker Charlie Austin at the club beyond 2012.

The 21-year-old joined the club in October last year from non league Poole Town and he signed an extended two-and-a-half year deal back in February.

Austin scored 20 goals in all competitions in his first season.

"We're looking to extend the period that he's with us. The farthest thing from our mind is letting Charlie go," boss Danny Wilson told BBC Wiltshire.

Swindon lost fellow striker Billy Paynter to Leeds United in the summer and some supporters are concerned Austin may be next to go.

We're not encouraging anyone to come in with any money

But speaking at a fans' forum on Thursday night at the County Ground Wilson sought to allay their fears.

"We're not in any position to understand if anybody wants him or for what price they want him for but he's not for sale," he said.

"We're not encouraging anyone to come in with any money.

"Whether they do, we don't know, but we're trying to encourage him to stay a longer period with us."
