New signing Paul Caddis easily won over by Swindon Town

Swindon signing Paul Caddis says he was already sold on the club even before he spoke to manager Danny Wilson.

The 22-year-old defender, who signed on Monday from Celtic, gives much of the credit to team-mate Simon Ferry, whom he also played with at Parkhead.

"I watched a lot of the games when I had the chance as I'm quite close with Simon," Caddis told BBC Wiltshire.

"The gaffer sold the club to me, but to be honest he didn't really need to say much as Simon had done that for him."

Caddis managed a handful of first-team games at full-back for the Bhoys last season but said he is happy to play anywhere for his new team.

"I've played everywhere but centre-half and in goal for Celtic. But I think I'm better down the right side, whether it's full-back or midfield," he said.

"In this day and age, being versatile is a big help to the manager so I'm willing to play left or right."

And the Scotland U21 international already likes what he sees at the Wiltshire club.

"Good first impressions and I've come out and seen the pitch and it's better than Celtic Park so I can't complain," he said.

"It looks like a nice stadium and all the people I've spoken to say it's a club on the up."
