Kemy Agustien finally seals Swansea City switch

Midfielder Kemy Agustien has finally become a Swansea City player after penning a two-year deal.

The 24-year-old Dutch under-21 international has been out of action since pre-season with a knee injury sustained while on trial in the summer.

Agustien will cost the Swans nothing as he was released by AZ Alkmaar.

"I've worked hard to get back from the injury and started integrating with the squad on the training field this week," he said.

"I only did about two weeks pre-season training before I joined up with Swansea in Holland. Then I picked up the injury, so I've had a bit of catching up to do.

"But I'm feeling good and I hope to push myself into the frame against Reading a week on Saturday.''

Agustien began his career at Willem II and he joined AZ in 2006 before spells on loan with Roda JC, Birmingham City and RKC Waalwijk.

He impressed at St Andrews, but his proposed £2.5 million move to the Midlands collapsed because he suffered groin problems which needed two operations to cure.

"I've played for quiet a few teams so far in my career, but I've never felt as welcome at a club as I did when I joined up with Swansea out in Holland," Agustien added.

"I've never been treated so well by a squad of players. It was a bit of a shock. In fact, I'm still in shock. There are no big time players here; everyone is treated the same and behaves the same.

"They are a great bunch and they've given me a great welcome. Now I just can't wait to get started again.''

And Swans boss Brendan Rodgers was delighted with his second signing.

"He has the attributes that can take him to the highest level in the British game,'' he said.

"He is mobile, he gets about the pitch well, he is strong and a good player with the ball at his feet.

"He has everything we would look for in terms of the type of player who could play for Swansea.

"Technically he is strong, tactically he understands the game and physically he can deal with the game in Britain."
