Swansea City striker Stephen Dobbie has signed a new three-year deal, keeping him at the club until June 2013.

The 27-year-old is enjoying a fresh lease of life under new manager Brendan Rodgers after being sidelined by former boss Paulo Sousa last season.

Sousa loaned Dobbie to Blackpool and he went on to help them win promotion to the Premier League via the play-offs - initially at Swansea's expense.

"I'm delighted," said Dobbie, who Blackpool wanted to keep permanently.

"I know there have been a few enquiries from Blackpool along the way, but I'm just glad I've put pen to paper and can concentrate on my football with Swansea City.

"I didn't find the interest from Blackpool too unsettling because it means you must be doing something right when other teams want to buy you. I went there, did well and have fond memories of the place.

"But it's all about Swansea for me, especially with the new gaffer in charge. He's been fantastic with me and I want to repay him with a few goals.

"We've got a lot off attacking options in the side across the front line and from midfield, which is fantastic.''

Dobbie signed for the Swans last summer on a free transfer from Queen of the South - where he scored 47 goals in 83 appearances - before then-manager Roberto Martinez quit the club for Wigan Athletic.

After a promising start under Martinez's successor Sousa, in which he scored three goals in his first eight games, Dobbie suffered a broken rib and then struggled to regain his place.

But in January, despite the Swans struggling to score goals, he was allowed to leave to go on loan at Blackpool, one of the club's play-off rivals.

The Swans eventually missed out on a play-off place by a point to Blackpool, who eventually won promotion to the Premier League after beating Cardiff 3-2 in the final at Wembley.

During his time with the Seasiders, Dobbie scored four goals in 19 appearances - the majority from the bench - two of those goals leading to Blackpool claiming wins.

Dobbie returned to the Swans at the end of last season and has started all three Championship games this season scoring once in the 4-0 win over Preston North End.
