Swansea seal Van der Gun signing

Interview: Cedric van der Gun

Swansea City have signed former Ajax striker Cedric van der Gun on a one-year deal with an option to extend his stay a further 12 months.

The former Dutch Under-21 international was a free agent after leaving FC Utrecht in the summer.

Van der Gun, 30, received offers from clubs in Holland, Germany and France.

"I know Ferrie Bodde and Dorus de Vries really well... I had a couple of phone calls and they told me about Swansea," the ex-Borussia Dortmund striker said.

"It's taken a while for an agreement with the club to happen, but now I'm really happy I can play for the team.

"I know the goal for Swansea is to get into the play-offs and I know they got really close last year.

"That is the goal for me this year. i just want to play good football and perform really well."

Van der Gun has played for six clubs including Dutch sides Willem II and Den Haag.
