Monk wants away form to improve

Garry Monk
Monk has called for consistency away from home

Captain Garry Monk says Swansea City need to find more consistency on their travels ahead of their trip to Preston on Tuesday.

The Swans were comfortably beaten 4-0 by Reading on Saturday but are aiming to bounce back at Deepdale.

"We were bitterly disappointed with the performance," said defender Monk, 29.

"Thankfully in football, you get the chance to put things right quite quickly and we've got that chance on Tuesday against Preston."

Swansea have lost three out of their four games away from home scoring just once in the 1-0 win at Plymouth and conceding eight goals.

But Monk is refusing to press the panic button, insisting they can improve.

He said: "At the moment, we are a little bit inconsistent away from home.

"At home we haven't lost all season and we have to take a bit of that into our away games.

"We know we can do it, we just need to show a little bit more commitment away from home."

And Monk is determined not to have a repeat of Saturday's first-half show in which they were outclassed by Reading.

"We can accept losing games sometimes but not if you put in the performance that we did in the first half," he added.

"With the players that we've got, we bounce back quite quickly.

"We've got to take the disappointment and the hurt from that sort of defeat into Tuesday in the right manner and make sure we've got a much more committed and solid performance.

"I'm sure the boys realise that's what's needed and that is what we will be going up to Preston to do."
