Martinez anger at football agents

Roberto Martinez
Martinez praised Bodde for making a "football decision" over money

Roberto Martinez has hit out at agents after Ferrie Bodde ended his transfer saga by staying with Swansea City.

Bodde, 26, wanted to leave for Derby but changed his mind after admitting "making mistakes".

"To have Ferrie deciding to stay for football reasons and extend his contract is fantastic," said Martinez.

"It's a problem of modern football where more and more agents are trying to pick successful teams to unsettle, get players away, and make money."

The Swans boss added: "We've seen it time after time.

"But I'm sure the fans will look at the situation and get a huge boost from Ferrie's decision because he's been a top performer and to accept to lose money by staying at Swansea City is refreshing.

"It doesn't happen often these days. More and more you don't get players making football decisions.

"We have lost one or two players in terms of they say the right things to the fans and then when they need to make a decision, they go for the financial terms and they go away.

"Ferrie has been the opposite."
