Swansea City striker Guillem Bauza has agreed a "long-term" contract with the League One champions.

The 23-year-old Spaniard's current one-year deal runs out next month, but he has secured his future with this new performance-related agreement.

"Bussy has had a huge impact in the British game in a short period of time," said boss Roberto Martinez.

"He is still a very young, but talented striker who I am sure will continue to blossom on the Championship stage."

Bauza became Martinez's first Spanish signing last summer when he switched from La Liga side Espanyol.

A regular for Espanyol's B team, he is also a former Spain Under-16, 17 and Under-20 international who started his career with Mallorca.

The qualified teacher was an European Championship winner with the Spain Under-16 team, playing in all six games alongside Liverpool's 27m striker Fernando Torres.

He also started all three games for Spain in the Under-20 World Cup in Trinidad and Tobago.

Although he was given a gentle introduction to life in League One, he finished the season on a high after scoring the two goals at Gillingham that clinched promotion for the Swans.

Bauza also grabbed a hat-trick against Leyton Orient in the final home game of the season, bringing his season's tally to 13.

"I think everyone has been pleased to see his progress from July through to May before returning to Spain a hero in the eyes of Swans fans," added Martinez.

"Everyone at the club is delighted to see him commit himself to the club for a longer spell. He's enjoying his football and I'm sure we will also all enjoy what he produces next season."

Bauza joins Alan Tate, Tom Butler, Owain Tudur Jones and Shaun McDonald who have all agreed new contracts.

Trio Kristian O'Leary, Dennis Lawrence and Garry Monk have also had new one-year deals triggered by appearances, but Monk is in talks over extending that deal.

The only remaining player who will be out of contract next month is goalkeeper David Knight.

Midfielder Andy Robinson opted not to sign a new deal and instead opted to join Leeds United, who lost the League One play-off final to Doncaster, as a free agent.
