Swansea defender Garry Monk has got his wish to be the club's new skipper in place of Roberto Martinez.
Monk moved to Swansea two years ago
The centre-back, 27, took the armband at the end of last season when Martinez was left out of the side.
With Spanish midfielder Martinez now released, manager Kenny Jackett has confirmed former Southampton man Monk as his new on-field leader.
"Garry Monk will be our captain for next season," Jackett told the South Wales Evening Post.
Earlier this week, Monk had spoken of his desire to claim the armband.
"It would be a privilege and an honour, I feel I'm at the right age and captaincy can help raise your game to another level," said Monk.
