Richards targets Vetch contract
Marc Richards is a free agent at the end of the season
Swansea's goal hero Marc Richards is seeking a deal at the club after his release from Blackburn.

The 20-year-old, whose strike against Rochdale kept the club's hopes of avoiding relegation alive, has been on loan at the Vetch since November.

In that time he has scored seven times in 17 appearances, making him the club's second-highest striker this season, but he has recently heard that Graeme Souness has let him go from Ewood Park.

"It's been magnificent at the Vetch," said Richards, "I'm a free agent at the end of the season, and I'll definitely be interested in staying if we can stay up.

"The fans are brilliant, the coaches and players at the club are my new set of best friends."

Richards' goal against Rochdale was a scrappy strike, but the player knew its importance.

"It was a massive goal and it has put us in good stead for the last game of the season," he said.

"Nerves are a good thing - you have to go out and use them to your advantage, not be afraid to make mistakes.

"The Hull match will be the biggest game I've ever been involved in."

  • Tickets for Swansea's crunch clash with Hull will go on general sale at the club shop from 0900 BST on Monday (28 April).
