Steaua Bucharest enjoyed European Cup success

Former European Cup holders Steaua Bucharest will face Swansea City, Wrexham and Newport County in pre-season friendlies.

The Romanian side lifted the continent's most prestigious trophy in 1986 after beating Barcelona on penalties.

Basing themselves in London during their visit, they will be playing Millwall (Sat, 27 July), Newport County (Tues, 30 July), Swansea City (Thurs, 1 Aug) and QPR (Sat, 3 Aug) before heading to North Wales.

They round off the tour at Wrexham on Monday, 5 August, just five days before the Dragons begin their Division Three campaign at Scunthorpe.

Steaua will provide a big test, having won the Romanian Championship 15 times and the Cup on 16 occasions. This season, they finished third, and will compete in the 2002/03 UEFA Cup.
