Swansea City have completed their second signing of the summer with the capture of Argentine midfielder Nicolas Mazzina.

Mazzina, 22, has spent the past two weeks with the Swans impressing in friendly matches and in training.

He set up winning goals against Barry and Aberystwyth, and scored the equaliser in the 1-1 draw with Carmarthen at the weekend.

Buenos Aires-born Mazzina began his career with Argentine giants Boca Juniors, playing his way through the youth ranks.

But he failed to make the breakthrough into the first team, and left 12 months ago to join Second Division side AC Kimberley.

He showed an eye for goal, netting eight times in 29 appearances, before deciding to try his luck in the Nationwide League.

Holding an Italian passport through parentage, Mazzina does not have to apply for a work permit and joins Swansea's other new signing, John Williams, in preparing for the new Division Three season.

Mazzina was one of four pre-season trialists who took part in the match with Carmarthen, with the Argentinian doing enough to persuade manager John Hollins to offer him a contract.

Hollins said: "He certainly understands how to manoeuvre players, how to bring players into the game and score goals. The crowd like him, and he got a great ovation at Carmarthen.

"I am very pleased and I think he is going to be exciting."
