England call-up will not affect me - Jordan Henderson
Henderson has made 54 appearances for Sunderland
Sunderland midfielder Jordan Henderson has said his England call-up will not affect his performances for his club.
The 20-year-old will be handed his first cap by England boss Fabio Capello on Wednesday against France at Wembley.
But Henderson told BBC Radio Newcastle: "I've got good friends and family so I don't think I'll get carried away.
"I just have to keep doing what I'm doing and hopefully I'll keep getting in the England squad and getting good results with the club."
The Sunderland-born player, who made his Premier League debut in November 2008 in a 5-0 thrashing by Chelsea, said the Black Cats impressive 3-0 win against the champions on Sunday proved the potential of Steve Bruce's side.
"There's no point in sitting back against them, we pressed them high up the pitch and we got our just rewards," he said.
"The gaffer's brilliant, he'll give you a kick up the backside and an arm around you when you need it, we've got a real togetherness at the club.
"We can't get too carried away, we just need to keep our feet on the ground and keep playing well."
