Sunderland midfielder Steed Malbranque has pledged his future to the club following speculation surrounding a move away from the Stadium of Light.

Malbranque, 30, has been a regular under Steve Bruce in recent months, and is pleased to have established himself within the Black Cats line-up.

"Of course, my future is with Sunderland, no question about that," Malbranque told BBC Newcastle.

"I think recently I am in good form and it's good to be in the first team."

Malbranque has enjoyed a profitable career in England, making 297 Premier League appearances in a nine-year stint with Fulham, Tottenham and Sunderland.

However it has taken the diminutive playmaker time to click with supporters on Wearside, but with 31 appearances to his name this season, the Mouscron-born Malbranque is delighted to have struck up a bond.

"I am happy to hear that, I've got a lot of fans behind me and it's positive for me," Malbranque added.

"I try to play well for the team and for the fans."

Malbranque joined Sunderland from Tottenham Hotspur in July 2008 as part of a three-player deal including Pascal Chimbonda and Teemu Tainio.
