Michael Turner wants Sunderland to press

Sunderland defender Michael Turner says the Black Cats need to start grabbing games "by the scruff of the neck" after Saturday's 1-0 defeat by West Ham.

He told BBC Newcastle: "We've been consistently inconsistent. We didn't let ourselves down with our performance but it's about having professionalism.

"We've got to come to a place like this and grab the game by the scruff of the neck and we haven't done that.

"We have to learn quickly to move forward," he concluded.

He added: "It's something that's being going on all season, we get a good win and then go away and let ourselves down."

The Wearsiders are 11 points clear of the Premier League relegation places with four games to play.

Turner joined Sunderland from Hull City in August 2009 for an undisclosed fee.
