Jones drops Sunderland exit hint

Sunderland striker Kenwyne Jones has hinted he could be on his way out of the club if they fail to stay in the Premier League.

The Black Cats are fifth from bottom going into the last game of the season at home to Chelsea, but their fate is in their own hands.

"If we stay up I am definitely going to be here. If we go down I don't know what is going to happen," said Jones.

"I can't say what happens, I just have to do the best I can for the team."

The 24-year-old Trinidad and Tobago international, who is Sunderland's joint top scorer this season with 11 goals in all competitions, joined them from Southampton in August 2007 for a fee of £6m.

His manager at Southampton was Harry Redknapp, who is now at Tottenham and made an unsuccessful bid for the player in January.

"Tottenham have been linked with me quite strongly for month upon month," Jones told the Daily Mirror.

"I can't say I know what is going on there or whether it is just paper talk or what. I can only focus on the job I have now."
