Agent rejects Healy move report

David Healy has struggled to get first-team football at Sunderland

David Healy's agent has dismissed a newspaper report that the Northern Ireland striker could be moving from Sunderland to Rangers.

The Belfast Telegraph reported on Wednesday that Healy was being lined up to replace Kris Boyd who seems poised for a move from Rangers to Birmingham.

But agent Stephen Hughes told BBC Sport: "I have heard nothing. We are not engineering anything.

"I spoke to Sunderland earlier this week and nothing was mentioned."

Healy, 29, has made just one first-team start, in the League Cup, for the Black Cats since his August move from Fulham.

However, in November the player insisted he was determined to remain at Sunderland to battle for a first-team breakthrough.

If the NI record scorer did move to Rangers he would team up with international colleagues Steve Davis and Kyle Lafferty.

Gers boss Walter Smith is known to be an admirer of the Northern Ireland striker.

And Northern Ireland boss Nigel Worthington has made it clear he is keen for his star forward to be playing regular first-team football.
