Sunderland striker Stephen Elliott will be out of action for up to two months after suffering ankle ligament damage.
Elliott celebrates his goal against Leeds with Daryl Murphy
The 22-year-old Republic of Ireland striker was injured as he scored the Black Cats' third goal in their 3-0 win at Leeds on Wednesday.
An X-ray of Elliott's ankle on Thursday and it revealed no damage to the bone but he still faces a long lay-off.
"He's done the ligaments and jarred it but there is no break," Sunderland boss Roy Keane told his club's website.
"He's had a sore one. We saw it on the camera after the game and it is quite nasty.
"It is disappointing for us and for him after scoring a great goal."
