Sunderland boss Mick McCarthy admitted to shedding a tear after his team secured promotion to the Premiership.
The Black Cats beat Leicester 2-1 while Ipswich could only draw with Leeds - guaranteeing a return to the top flight for McCarthy's team.
"It's exciting, it's what we've been striving for," said McCarthy. "We should enjoy the moment.
"I was as emotional as anyone and when that result came through from Leeds I was crying, yes."
Sunderland were relegated from the Premiership two years ago, but McCarthy said his team deserved another go at top-flight football.
"We've earned the right to have a go at it," added McCarthy.
"I've got a different group of guys going into the league than those who went down.
"It's a huge pleasure, a relief and delight with a group of players who have come in and set the place on fire.
"The lads all want a medal and we want the championship trophy."
