Sunderland manager Mick McCarthy has confirmed that defender Darren Williams is in talks with Cardiff over a permanent move.
Williams, 27. has spent more than two months on loan with the Bluebirds and his contract expires in the summer.
McCarthy told the club's website: "Darren won't be having his contract renewed and he knows that.
"The move has been made for Darren as much as anyone - he needs to find a club and I think they want him."
