Michael Bridges will make a permanent return to Sunderland from Bolton before Christmas after impressing on loan.
Bridges has been at Bolton since leaving Leeds
Bridges scored his first goal in competitive football for four-and-a-half years against Stoke on Saturday.
The 26-year-old striker made his name on Wearside before sealing a £5m move to Leeds in 1999 before switching to Bolton at the start of this season.
His return to Sunderland is expected to be finalised on 24 December when his Reebok Stadium contract expires.
