Knox steps up as Stranraer boss

Stranraer

Stranraer have installed Keith Knox as caretaker manager following the departure of former boss Derek Ferguson by mutual consent.

Knox had been Ferguson's assistant at the troubled Second Division club.

The former club captain is seeking an assistant coach and hopes to make an appointment shortly.

Ferguson left after last weekend's 8-2 defeat by Stirling Albion, with the club sitting bottom of the league, seven points behind Arbroath.

Knox had two spells with the club, making 301 appearances and scoring 27 goals.

In 1997/98 he captained the Stranraer side that secured won the Second Division Championship and he returned two seasons ago as coach of the reserves after spells at Stenhousemuir, Alloa, Gretna and manager of Wigtown.
