Stoke target Jewell as assistant

Paul Jewell
Jewell quit as Derby County boss in December 2008

Stoke City manager Tony Pulis is interested in adding former Derby boss Paul Jewell to his backroom staff after Dave Kemp became the club's head scout.

Kemp had been Pulis's assistant for the past six years during his first spell at Stoke and also at Plymouth Argyle.

Kemp will now be looking for players in the United States and South America.

Chairman Peter Coates told BBC Radio Stoke: "I'm not about high-profile names; it's just about getting the right man for the job."

He added: "[The change of jobs] is a good move for Dave Kemp as his family live in America, and it suits us as he knows just the sort of player that Tony is looking for."
